In case you’ve been living under a rock, there’s a massive showdown in East Lansing on Friday night between Michigan and Michigan State basketball that will dictate who remains atop the Big Ten standings.
The Spartans are hosting the Wolverines as home underdogs, and that’s something that they’ve only experienced one other time this season — in a home loss to Duke.
It’s a big day for current and former Spartans alike. Michigan State hoops alums have been taking to social media to show support for their alma mater and, in some cases, former teammates.
One former Spartan turned some heads after he posted about the rivalry game on his Instagram account. Tre Holloman, who has been on Spartan fans’ bad sides for the way he left and took a jab at Tom Izzo after his first breakout game this year, took to his social media to post about the big rivalry game. Clearly he hasn’t forgotten what day it is.

The “FTO” has been used on several former players’ social media posts, and that just means “F the opps” — the “F” is obvious there, but for those not so online, “opps” means opposition. Michigan is always the opps in this case, and that’s a phrase that is apparently said by the Spartan players behind the scenes.
Holloman is standing with his former teammates (again) as they take on the team that instigated a scuffle with the former Spartan guard last season.
He hasn’t forgotten.
Other former Michigan State stars are fired up, too
Several former Michigan State players took to social media to show support for the Spartans as they host No. 3 Michigan tonight, including Tyson Walker, AJ Hoggard, and Malik Hall.
They all used “FTO” as well.

This game means something to everyone who has suited up for Michigan State at some point in time, even if they transferred out like Holloman or Hoggard. We’ve seen several former Spartans chiming in on this rivalry game over the years, but it’s nice to see that the hatred still lives inside of them after leaving the program.
It’ll be interesting to see which former players are in attendance on Friday.
