Following a successful three-year career with Michigan State, junior guard Tre Holloman decided his time was up in East Lansing and decided to hit the transfer portal on April 1, less than 48 hours after losing to Auburn in the Elite Eight.

The junior guard from Minnesota had become a fan favorite in East Lansing, especially after he defended the Spartan logo at midcourt when two Michigan players tried to spoil Senior Day.

Unfortunately, Tom Izzo letting him kiss the logo after the game as a reward pretty much acted as his goodbye to Michigan State and no one knew it at the time. Now, it all makes sense.

When he entered the portal, however, everyone kind of knew that he would garner some interest from solid high-major programs and that seems to be the case so far.

According to Pete Nakos of On3, Holloman has heard from four major programs.

North Carolina, NC State, Villanova, and Baylor have all reached out and, honestly, I wouldn't be shocked to see him at the latter three. I would be shocked if he ended up at North Carolina, especially because the Tar Heels just got Seth Trimble announced that he'd be back next year. It feels like Holloman wants to go somewhere that he can be the starting point guard and I doubt that's UNC.

NC State would make sense because Will Wade is trying to piece together a squad in his first offseason and he'll take guys from winning teams even if they aren't perfect fits. Villanova has a familiar face in Kevin Willard (from Maryland) leading the way in his first offseason. And Baylor just lost a star guard to the portal and they need some help.

It's good to see Tre garnering interest from these high-majors because he is talented enough.
