Just last week, 247Sports released their updated recruiting rankings for the 2026 hoops class, and a handful of Michigan State basketball targets got some nice bumps.
While this won't be the final update to the 247Sports rankings, and we'll likely see more movement with Michigan State targets in the coming months, there were some positive developments involving priority targets for Tom Izzo.
We spoke last week about Carlos Medlock Jr. getting a nice bump. The Michigan State commit went from the No. 97 recruit in the country all the way up to No. 67. He was one of the biggest risers in the class, but he wasn't the only one with ties to Izzo and the Spartans to get a boost.
Two visitors from the past weekend got massive boosts in the new update.
The first was four-star shooting guard Jasiah Jervis who many want to see paired in the backcourt with Medlock in East Lansing. He was the No. 60 overall recruit on 247Sports last week, and now he's up to No. 39, just 24 spots away from five-star status (there are only 15 five-stars on 247Sports). He's now the third-best shooting guard in the 2026 class.
The next was Quinn Costello, a four-star big man from Boston. He was No. 70 in the 247Sports rankings last week, and now he's No. 45. He's also the No. 8 power forward in the 2026 class.
If you combine the rise of the three visitors from this past weekend (Medlock, Costello, Jervis), they jumped 76 total spots in the recent 247Sports rankings update.
Izzo knows how to identify talent early on.
