Tom Izzo is looking to close out his 2026 Michigan State basketball recruiting class, and he's off to a heck of a start with Carlos Medlock Jr. and Julius Avent already committed.

But the job's not finished.

Izzo has some big names left on his board ranging from Jasiah Jervis to Ethan Taylor to Maximo Adams. All three of those guys have the Spartans high up on their lists and they're closing in on a decision in the near future. But there's another name that isn't quite as highly-touted, but every bit as talented who is nearing a decision: Tristan Reed.

The four-star center, who also happens to be teammates with Taylor and Medlock at Link Academy in Missouri, revealed on Wednesday that he plans on making a decision on Saturday.

And he's down to five schools, including Michigan State.

Ohio State, Mississippi State, Maryland, and Missouri are listed as finalists along with Michigan State, and it sounds like one program currently has most of the momentum.

It's interesting to see these programs but not the one his brother, Tarris Reed, plays for or his brother's former school (Michigan). The big man will be headed to the Big Ten with three programs on the list, or the SEC with Mississippi State or Missouri. Word on the street, however, is that Mississippi State may have a slight lead heading into his decision.

My money would probably be on Mississippi State as well. I don't think Michigan State has prioritized him like it has Taylor, so I think that's the direction Izzo is going with the center spot.
