Michigan State women's basketball continues to grow the program under head coach Robyn Fralick. With so many new faces in the program for the 2026-27 season, sometimes it‘s great to have players who have experienced adversity.

That's the story for Theryn Hallock.

The lifelong Spartan was getting ready to play her final season as a Spartan in 2025-26, that was until an injury eight games into the year derailed it.

Now as the 2026-27 season begins, Hallock is back with a passion.

She averaged a career high 13.3 points per game during her junior season in 2024-25, and was averaging right around 10.6 points last season before she got hurt. The injury gave way to Kennedy Blair who really blossomed in her absence.

Now with both back for the youngest Spartan team in Fralick's tenure, they bring experience and leadership.

In fact, Coach Fralick is more than happy to have Hallock back.

Theryn Hallock embodies what it means to be a Spartan

“It is great to have Theryn back and to have her healthy," Fralick said, after they opened practice last Tuesday. "She is a true Spartan through and through. She adds so many dimensions to our game in so many ways, experience, and playing at Michigan State. I think that she learned a lot being out a year."

They might have a young group around them, but this looks to be a very hungry group for Michigan State women's basketball. Like Tom Izzo, Fralick wants to continue to build the family culture at Michigan State.

Hallock is the true definition of that.

As for the Spartan women's team getting under way this season, they begin exhibition action on Wednesday, Oct. 28, when Michigan Tech visits the Breslin Center.
