Michigan State women's basketball had one of its better seasons in recent memory. They finished with 23 wins which was the most since the 2015-16 season. Injuries and late season struggles saw the Spartans bounced early in the Big Ten Tournament, and a six point loss to Oklahoma in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Head coach Robyn Fralick has her work cut out this offseason with several departures via graduations and the transfer portal. Coach Fralick already made a splashby landing Butler transfer Anna Wypych.
It turns out that wasn't the only move in the works. Michigan State women's basketball got some more good news with the addition of a forward from the Colorado Buffaloes.
That player is Tabitha Betson.
Betson made it known via her social media that she would be joining the Spartans.
Tabitha has plenty of basketball experience coming from Melbourne, Australia. She also was productive and a massive piece for Colorado last season.
She averaged 19.3 minutes per game, as they reached the NCAA Tournament. The forward is known as a shooter, with more than half of her attempts coming from deep.
Obviously the 33.9% from three has to improve, but the fact that she was very productive at the free throw line, at 83 percent, certainly shows she has a chance to become more than just a shooter.
The Spartans have to replace some major scoring as they lost five of their top six scorers from last season.
Benson was a very capable rebounder as well with 200 career rebounds in her two seasons in Boulder. The Spartans will need her to be at the level she was as a freshman, when she finished with 163 points and 115 rebounds in 30 games. She started 16 of the 24 games she played in 2025-26.
The fit seems perfect especially with the all-around abilities, and she could easily fit right into the starting lineup for the Spartans.
