Son of Michigan State national champion may have given Michigan bulletin board material

Maybe a little PR training is in order for Cameron Hutson.

The son of Michigan State national champion Andre Hutson may have just given Michigan all the bulletin board material that it needed to move on to the Sweet 16.

Cameron Hutson, a freshman for Saint Louis, has played in just 18 games this season and is averaging 5.3 minutes in those 18 appearances. He's not exactly the star of the Billikens, but he's the future. He was the third-best recruit from the state of Michigan in the 2025 class with a dozen MAC and other mid-major offers. He chose Saint Louis.

So far, that choice has paid off as the Billikens are one of the better mid-majors in college basketball, and they're one win away from their first Sweet 16 since 1957.

Unfortunately, Hutson may have given Saint Louis' second-round opponent -- top-seed Michigan -- all the bulletin board material that it may need for Saturday's afternoon showdown.

Hutson didn't say anything egregious but he answered the question about Michigan to the media probably the same way he would have if a friend asked him about the game.

"I hope we smack the crap out of (Michigan) worse than we did Georgia."

That's a fairly innocent quote because he didn't predict a win, but rather said the word "hope" instead of "we will". It's still not ideal, but the quote is going viral on Michigan Twitter and it looks like Wolverine fans are trying to get their guys to use it as motivation.

I'm not sure that a true freshman who plays 5.3 minutes and averages 1.8 points per game should have that type of power over the Wolverines, but they're going to make a mountain out of this mole hill.

Andre Hutson's hate for Michigan has been passed down

The elder Hutson won a national title with Michigan State back in 2000 and helped the program to three straight Final Fours before graduating. His hatred of Michigan is engrained in him, and he's clearly passed that down to his son.

Andre won that national title in 2000, averaging 10.2 points and 6.2 rebounds as a junior big man for Tom Izzo's Spartans. He averaged 10.1 points and 6.1 rebounds during his Spartan career and finished 7-1 against the Wolverines as a player. Hutson lost his first-ever game against Michigan and then went 7-0 for the remainder of his Spartan career, including a 114-63 thrashing in 2000.

The Michigan hate clearly runs through the Hutsons.
