Following last Saturday’s loss to Michigan, Spartan fans took to social media to voice their displeasure about the coaching staff, namely Jonathan Smith.

Another target of frustration after the rivalry loss was Aidan Chiles. The junior quarterback had a forgettable game, finishing with just over 100 yards and a fumble en route to a 31-20 loss. And the only touchdown pass of the game for the Spartans was thrown by Alessio Milivojevic.

The backup quarterback came in during mop-up duty again, and impressed. The most popular player on a losing team is always the backup quarterback, and Milivojevic has felt the love.

Fans have been wanting some sort of change throughout the five-game losing streak, and the easiest band-aid to make fans happy (for the time being) is always replacing the quarterback. While Chiles is far from the team’s issue, his performance against Michigan had a lot of people questioning if he’s the right guy to lead the offense — it didn’t help that Milivojevic came in and immediately led a touchdown drive.

There have been rumors circulating all week about the starter at quarterback against Minnesota, and it looks like Milivojevic might just be the guy on Saturday.

Ivan Milivojevic, Alessio’s dad, hinted at his son being the starter on Saturday on X.

Seeing as Ivan doesn’t post this type of thing every Saturday, it seems pretty clear that a change is coming to the quarterback position and Alessio might just be getting his opportunity.

This could work out and Milivojevic could take over as the clear full-time starter, or he might struggle like Noah Kim did when he got the job after excelling as a backup. The coaching staff is likely willing to take that risk in order to try and save the season.

We’ll see if this hint by Ivan actually means Alessio is QB1 on Saturday afternoon.
