What are the Michigan State basketball roster pairings for 2024 Moneyball?
It's that time of the summer again when we can all get way too amped up about Moneyball Pro-Am stats and outcomes and buy all the stock (prematurely) in our favorite Michigan State basketball players.
Every year, there seems to be a breakout performer who looks like he may take over during the upcoming season and he makes headlines for dominating at Moneyball.
The stats need to be taken with a grain of salt because these teams aren't exactly playing lockdown defense during this Pro-Am. They're there to show off their offensive skill sets, saving some energy on the defensive end. But that hasn't stopped fans from buying all the stock in Pierre Brooks ahead of the 2022-23 season and Jaxon Kohler ahead of 2023-24.
Brooks is now with Butler and Kohler is projected to either start or be the backup center after a disappointing sophomore season that was marred with a foot injury.
But this year's Moneyball rosters are now officially set and we know which Spartans will be playing together throughout the Pro-Am next month.
Team Goodfellas: Szymon Zapala and Kur Teng
Team Tri-Star Trust: Gehrig Normand and Jaxon Kohler
Team Snipes: Tre Holloman and Carson Cooper
Team Motorcars: Jaden Akins and Xavier Booker
Team Case Credit Union: Frankie Fidler and Jesse McCulloch
Team Faygo: Coen Carr and Jase Richardson
The teams that I'm probably most excited for are Team Motorcars and Team Faygo. Seeing Jaden Akins and Xavier Booker develop a rapport with one another as potentially the top two players on the roster next season will be fun. Coen Carr and Jase Richardson will be a walking highlight reel, on the other hand.
A lot of eyes will be on Szymon Zapala and Frankie Fidler as the team's two transfer newcomers so we'll see if they can hold their own and show off some offensive game.
As you can see, there's no Jeremy Fears Jr. on any of the rosters and I'm assuming that's more of a precautionary measure. He doesn't need to be putting himself at risk for a setback during a Pro-Am that wouldn't really help his game anyways.
Get ready for some wild headlines and chugging of green Kool-Aid soon.
