Updating all 13 Michigan State basketball players' performances at Moneyball
8. Xavier Booker
One of the good things about Moneyball so far is there hasn’t really been much drama. In fact, the only drama that’s surfaced is with Xavier Booker.
It had nothing to do with Booker, but some felt he was a “disaster” during the first night of Moneyball. Booker defended himself, saying he didn’t play much because of a slight injury and playing rotations, but it sounds like he used those comments as motivation.
So what did Booker do after that? He went out and scored a solid 25 and 31 points in his next two games. That 31 point effort also included seven 3-pointers which is absurd. Yes, I’d love to see him show off some post moves as well, but seven 3-pointers is seven 3-pointers, that just shows how tough he’ll be to defend this year.
A lot of this year’s hope ride on Booker’s development, and thankfully it sounds like he is making loads of progress already. But similarly to Akins, Booker could also be an All-Big Ten selection this year if he’s able to put all the pieces of his game together.
