3. Jase Richardson

You never truly know how much a true freshman will play in their first season at college, especially under Tom Izzo. But Jase Richardson is proving he might need a lot of playing time now.

So far at Moneyball, he’s had two average games where he finished with 19 and 20 points in games one and four, respectively. But it was his two games in the middle that were outstanding.

Richardson scored an impressive 42 points in game two and 34 points in game three.

The only downside so far that I see for Richardson is his outside shooting. In four games he’s only made six 3-pointers, a number I’d hope would be higher. But other than that, Richardson has exceeded my expectations.

There’s quite the log jam of players ahead of Richardson on the depth chart, so he unfortunately may not play a lot this season. But when his number is called, I have confidence that he’ll at worst be able to hold his own if not be a major contributor and fill up the stat sheet in a hurry.
