Jordan Scott is one of the top recruiting targets for Tom Izzo and his staff in the 2025 class. Recently we found out that Michigan State basketball made the top three for Scott along with Maryland and Virginia Tech.

Now with his final three known, it was up to Scott to schedule his final visits to all three schools. And that information was just announced Wednesday night, and the dates selected really favor Michigan State.

Scott announced that he will be visiting Michigan State on Oct. 4. Michigan State’s competition will be hosting the four-star forward before MSU throughout the month of September as well.

MSU having the final visit is extremely significant. This gives Izzo the chance to have the last conversations with Scott before his commitment and will leave Scott with Michigan State on his mind the most as he makes his final decision. This doesn’t mean MSU will win this recruitment, but a majority of the time the final visit seems to win out in the end.

One thing not on Michigan State’s side in this recruitment is proximity to where Scott is from. Scott is from Reston, Va., so if he’s looking to stay close to home obviously both Maryland and Virginia Tech are better options.

But I personally love the Spartans chances against these two programs. Both programs and coaches for that matter do not stack up with what Michigan State has to offer. I know a lot of things go into a recruits decision, but the prestige of the program is definitely on Michigan State’s side.

No commitment date or official predictions have been made in Scott’s recruitment yet, but that information will likely come out soon after these visits. So here’s to hoping that Izzo and his staff can work their magic and bring home their first commitment in the 2025 class.
