Top 5 plays from Michigan State football’s win over Maryland
I have a feeling this win will be remembered for a very long time. This wasn’t the greatest win in Michigan State football history, but the Spartan’s 27-24 upset over Maryland will be remembered as an elite beginning to the Jonathan Smith era.
So what better way to celebrate the beginning of his era than by counting down the top five plays from Michigan State’s impressive win over the Terps.
Let’s dive in.
5. Chiles to Marsh for 57 yards
Stating with number five we have a big time throw and catch from Aidan Chiles to Nick Marsh in the beginning of the fourth quarter.
There are a few reasons this play makes the cut for me in the fifth spot. The throw itself was perfect and hit Chiles in stride, but to make it even better Chiles threw the perfect ball while taking a big hit.
The timing of this play was also perfect as it was the first play after Maryland took a 24-17 lead. The Terps had all the momentum, but this play let everyone know that Michigan State wasn’t going anywhere. Sure MSU failed to score on this drive, but this play helped the Spartans get some momentum back and not let Maryland run away with the game and momentum.
Spoiler alert, this won’t be the last time you see a pitch and catch from these two on this list.
