3. Coen Carr -- Night 1

We all know what Coen Carr’s strength is. Elite athleticism. But that alone won’t cut it at the Big Ten level.

Carr’s defense last season was suspect, but I have no doubt he’ll be able to easily improve because of his athleticism. But the one thing he needs to improve on to be an effective player at Michigan State is finding a consistent jump shot.

And it appears he may have done just that this offseason.

On the very first night of Moneyball, Carr showed off his new jump shot by scoring 28 points and hitting three 3-pointers. Twenty-eight points is great and all, but if most of those points came from dunks then I wouldn’t be that impressed. But the fact that he hit three shots from deep is amazing.

Now he hasn’t been super consistent from 3-point range throughout Moneyball, so there’s still some work to be done. But if Carr can even have a somewhat consistent jump shot that sees him hit a three every so often this season, then the sky is the limit for him.
