The first three weeks of Moneyball are now in the books, and so far it has been an excellent showing from Michigan State’s basketball players.

From the newcomers showing what they’re made of to the returning Spartans showing their improvements, Moneyball so far has been a really exciting time and made me more confident heading into the season.

Previously I gave a quick update on all 13 Spartans' performances so far at Moneyball, but now we’re going to do something a little different. I’m going to list the top five individual performances that I’ve seen at Moneyball so far this summer.

Before we dive in, know that these rankings aren’t in any particular order and I’m not just basing this off the five highest point totals scored in a game this summer. I’m also looking at things such as player improvement and the impact someone’s improvement could have on the upcoming regular season.

Let’s begin first with the performance that’s made me the most excited so far.

1. Jeremy Fears Jr. -- Night 6

Jeremy Fears Jr. hasn’t been a full participant at Moneyball this summer, but he has played in three games when one of his teammates couldn’t play. In those three games, Fears has been very solid, but it was his performance this past Thursday on the sixth night of Moneyball that was his best.

On Thursday, Fears exploded for 40 points which included seven made 3-pointers. While this performance may have been worthy of making the top five on its own, it’s something else that makes it my favorite performance so far.

It’s the simple fact that Fears is showing he’s 100 percent healthy again after being injured from a gunshot last December. At the time we didn’t know if he’d be able to play basketball again, but only seven months later Fears appears to be back to normal on the court.

And that deserves one of the spots on this list.
