Tom Izzo and his staff have been hitting the recruiting trail extremely hard recently.

It seems like every other day Izzo is seen watching a top recruit play, and that was seen once again over the past few days when Izzo has been watching two of the top recruits in the country.

First up is a name you all are likely familiar with. Jalen Haralson has been a top target for Izzo and his staff all cycle, and that doesn’t seem to be changing.

Haralson is a five-star forward and ranked the No. 9 overall player and No. 2 forward in the country for the 2025 class according to 247Sports composite rankings.

Izzo and his staff have been in to see Haralson more times than we can count recently, and earlier on Sunday is yet another example of that.

Michigan State has an upcoming visit with Haralson on Sept. 14. They also found out that they officially made his top nine, which also includes Duke, Gonzaga, Missouri, Auburn, Indiana, Notre Dame, Purdue, and Kansas.

This will be a tough recruitment to win, but Izzo has prioritized Haralson early and often, so I think Michigan State stands a good chance.

The second prospect Izzo has been in to see recently is a newer name on the Michigan State recruiting scene in DeZhon Hall.

Hall is a point guard in the 2026 class, but is yet to receive a ranking by the recruiting services. That isn’t a sign that he isn’t a good player, it’s more of just a reminder that it’s still very early on in the recruitments for players in the 2026 class.

At this point, it’s too early to know where Michigan State stands in his recruitment. But Izzo getting involved early is a big deal. Sometimes recruits favor the programs that recruit them early, so that could end up favoring Michigan State in the long run.

MSU’s focus will rightfully be on the 2025 class for the time being, but this will be a name to monitor as time goes on.
