Tom Izzo seems to be prioritizing two 5-star teammates
We may be in the midst of football season now, but that doesn’t mean we have to forget about the basketball team. And if you follow Michigan State basketball even a little you know how relentless Tom Izzo is on the recruiting trail.
The NCAA recruiting dead period has just ended and Izzo is taking full advantage of this by getting out and immediately recruiting some of his top targets before the bulk of MSU’s preparations for the next season begin. And Izzo’s first stop on the trail is with two familiar names that he has been recruiting hard this entire cycle.
According to 247Sports reporter Jeff Rabjohns, Izzo was recently in attendance to see both Jalen Haralson and Darius Adams. Both recruits are top priorities for Michigan State in the 2025 class and are teammates at La Lumiere High School in Indiana. Both guys are also five-star prospects with Haralson coming in as the No. 9 player in the country and Adams checking in at No. 17.
As I mentioned, Izzo and his staff are recruiting both players extremely hard, but the interest appears to be mutual as well. Both players have upcoming official visits to East Lansing later this month, with Haralson visiting on Sept. 14 and Adams on Sept. 20. This does tell me that these guys likely aren’t a for sure package deal or else they would visit together, but there is still a chance they commit to the same school considering they play different positions.
Both of these recruitments are ones you will want to pay close attention to. Not much is known about who the leader is for Adams, but MSU is at least at the top of his list. Then you have Haralson who might be a slight lean to Indiana as of now, but Michigan State is still right there with him as well.
So stay tuned as these official visits are very soon and we likely will learn a lot more about where Michigan State stands in both recruitments after their visits.
