2. Constant focus on improvement

The next thing that I loved from Smith during his press conference at Big Ten media days was how he intends to focus on constant improvement this season.

At the end of the day I think that’s the one thing we all as fans want to see. I don’t know about you, but I never felt like the team was improving week to week the past couple seasons, and that upset me more than all the losses.

So even though this season may not be as great as year’s past when Michigan State was contending for championships, I think we can all live with a somewhat average season as long as the team keeps improving. That’s the single most important thing during a rebuild, so I’m glad to see that Smith is prioritizing this during his first season as head coach.
