1. 2014 Rose Bowl

Is there any other game that even comes close to getting the top spot? The 2014 Rose Bowl easily is the most iconic game from Dantonio’s era and is one that will be remembered as long as football is played in East Lansing.

This game saw Michigan State take on an elite Stanford team that once again was viewed as the favorite to win. But like MSU always did they proved everyone wrong and defeated the Cardinal 24-20.

The best play of the game by far was from linebacker Kyler Elsworth who stopped Stanford on 4th & 1 late in the game to seal the Spartan’s victory. I’ve seen countless people with this photo framed in their house, and honestly I’m upset at myself for not doing the same thing yet.

To make this victory even sweeter this was the 100th anniversary of the Rose Bowl, so can you even ask for a better Rose Bowl to win than that?

If I had to go back and relive one moment from the Dantonio era this would be the one I’d pick. This was the moment that Michigan State made it to the top of the college football world and showed that they belonged on the greatest stage. This is the moment that MSU cemented themselves on the college football map in the modern era, and for that I am forever grateful to the job Dantonio did while at Michigan State.
