3. 2015 Big Ten Championship Game

I gotta be honest, the next two selections were tough for me to decide between. They both deserve to make this list but in what order is tricky.

But for me I’m going with Michigan State’s 16-13 win against Iowa in the 2015 Big Ten Championship game.

It really doesn’t get much better than this game. No. 5 vs No. 4 with a Big Ten title and College Football Playoff appearance on the line. This game was also a defensive battle all night long that didn’t see any touchdowns scored until the fourth quarter. If that doesn’t scream Big Ten football then I don’t know what does.

But it was the iconic 22-play, 82-yard and nine minute winning drive that will be remembered forever. Everyone knew MSU was going to continue running the ball and Iowa could do nothing to stop it.

This 2015 team was a team of destiny because there were so many games that they probably shouldn’t have won but they always seemed to find a way. And while I won’t go as far as saying they shouldn’t have won this game, this title winning performance capped off what I think is arguably the best season in Michigan State football history.
