8. Sam Funches

Sam Funches is one of the players I’m most excited about on this list. He is a five-star center who stands at 7-feet tall. When was the last time Michigan State had someone like that on their roster?

The idea of a super talented 7-foot center really excites me because that’s the name of the game in the Big Ten. We all saw it the last few years with Zach Edey at Purdue, but most teams in recent history that are successful in the Big Ten have a dominant center. Maybe that’s why Michigan State’s been struggling of late.

Funches hasn’t released his list of top schools yet, but a post from HS Top Recruits on X tells us that Michigan State has at least some interest in him.

So although we don’t know how interested Funches is in Michigan State yet, we at least know that Izzo and his staff are keeping a close eye on him. That’s enough to get me excited.

Hopefully we’ll see Funches list Michigan State as one of his top schools very soon and schedule an official visit to East Lansing.
