1. Tariq Hayer, Safety

The highest-ranked recruit currently scheduled to visit Michigan State is four-star safety Tariq Hayer. Hayer is a safety from Upper Marlboro, Md., and is the No. 158 overall player in the country according to On3. He is the No. 14 safety in the country as well.

Hayer will be visiting Michigan State beginning June 14, which will be his third official. His first two visits are to Cincinnati and Rutgers with his fourth and final visit to Maryland. Having the last visit is always a big deal in recruiting battles, and Maryland getting that last visit as an in-state school is very significant.

No official predictions have been made in Hayer’s recruitment yet and there is no clear leader either. According to On3, Maryland is currently the team to beat, but it only gives the Terps a 30 percent chance to win this battle. Unfortunately for MSU, they sit in fourth place according to On3 at just nine percent.

But the Spartans have been hot recruiting the secondary this offseason thanks in large part to secondary coaches Blue Adams and Demetrice Martin. Anytime Adams or Martin are the primary recruiters, my hopes skyrocket. So I do think Michigan State stands a decent chance in this recruitment.
