2. Game of the Century - 1966

The defending national champion Spartans entered this intense matchup in 1966 ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the two polls used back then with Notre Dame holding the No. 1 and No. 2 spots respectively as well. The game, which ended in a 10-10 tie at Spartan Stadium, immediately was marked as the "Game of the Century".

Michigan State actually jumped out to an early 10-0 lead in the second quarter, thanks in part to Notre Dame's quarterback being knocked out of the game by legendary Spartan Bubba Smith. However, the Irish defense held strong the rest of the game and Notre Dame tied the game 10-10.

With 1:10 remaining in the game, Notre Dame had the ball on their own 30-yard line with a chance to win the game. But the Irish head coach made an interesting call and decided to run the clock out to purposefully end the game in a tie in fear of turning the ball over.

Regardless of the somewhat lame outcome, this game is still remembered as one of the greatest in the history of college football, and how fitting that it will be the 60 year anniversary of this game when the two sides face off in 2026.

Many of you might have thought this game should have been in the No. 1 slot on this list, but I saved something special (and more recent) for the top spot.
