In case you missed the news, Notre Dame and Michigan State football have announced an upcoming two-game series between the two historic rivals in 2026 and 2027. The first meeting will take place at Notre Dame, nine years after the most recent matchup, with the second of two games the following year in East Lansing.

It goes without saying how exciting this announcement is. Notre Dame is Michigan State's only non-conference rival, and I'd argue only Michigan is a bigger rival in the eyes of most MSU fans. That fact has always made it feel so weird that MSU doesn't play the Irish more regularly, especially considering they did annually from 1997-2013.

Thankfully however we won't have to wait much longer as these matchups will kickoff in two short years.
