7. Interceptions

Interceptions is a tough stat to predict because sometimes they are just handed to you by the opposing quarterback. It also isn’t common for any one player to have a lot of them in one season either. So there really isn’t an obvious choice here like for other stats.

The other problem is that there isn’t a player in Michigan State’s secondary that has many career interceptions to their name. So this prediction is a complete shot in the dark, but I’m going to go with a new face to the program.

Ed Woods is a transfer defensive back from Arizona State. At the time of his commitment to Michigan State, he was one of the top ranked players available in the portal. He also will for sure be a starter for Michigan State this season, so he’ll have plenty of opportunities at getting many interceptions.

Woods also has been one of the standout players for Michigan State this offseason as well. Montorie Foster Jr. even gave him a shoutout after practice on Tuesday. So all these things tell me that Woods is probably the most likely candidate to lead the way at turning opposing quarterbacks over.

Prediction: I don’t think Woods will have very many interceptions this season, but I don’t think the team as a whole will either. So I predict Woods to lead the way with three interceptions for the Spartans' defense this season.
