Do you feel that? Yes, that's the excitement of Michigan State football returning. It's palpable.

The Spartans returned to the practice field on Tuesday for the start of fall camp and the excitement in the air is electric. While there are no real expectations for the upcoming season, just the pure fact that Michigan State is getting another fresh start under Jonathan Smith is a good enough reason for most fans to be ecstatic.

The team took the field on Tuesday and players and coaches got to talk to the media after practice.

We saw highlights of Aidan Chiles, heard from Smith, and then the media caught up with some players, including veteran wideout Montorie Foster Jr.

Kenny Jordan of On3 got a really strong quote from Foster about which defensive back has been standing out to him this year and his answer was both surprising and unsurprising.

It's Ed Woods.

The Arizona State transfer was getting courted by Alabama before Smith and Co. swooped in and convinced him to come to East Lansing. There's a decent chance he'd be pushing for a starting cornerback spot with the Crimson Tide right now if it wasn't for Smith and Demetrice Martin putting on the full-court press.

And it looks like that effort has paid off. Woods is standing out to Spartan receivers as a guy who might just become a superstar this season and help bring back the 'No Fly Zone'.

During the Mel Tucker era, the defensive backfield was a major weakness and now that Martin and Blue Adams are in charge, it feels like that's going to change. The talent pool is already increasing and a guy like Woods could be the perfect player to lead the turnaround.

From the looks of it, Woods is going to "be a dude" this season.
