Positive injury update for veteran Michigan State football WR Montorie Foster Jr.
One of the worst things that can happen to any football team in August during fall camp is seeing one of your star players get injured. We all know that injuries happen and that they will for sure occur during the regular season, but the absolute worst time for them to occur is before the season begins.
Unfortunately for Michigan State football, starting wide receiver Montorie Foster Jr. suffered a minor injury about a week and a half ago during one of their scrimmages. Foster is the most veteran player in the wide receiver room and frankly is the only receiver with any amount of tangible experience. So losing Foster would be one of the biggest blows this team could take.
Thankfully the injury was very minor and he reportedly is 100 percent again.
Kenny Jordan with On3 reported on Thursday that wide receiver coach Courtney Hawkins said Foster is back to “full speed”. Obviously that is huge that he is back and will be ready to go for Michigan State’s Week 1 matchup against Florida Atlantic, but the timing of his return couldn’t be any better.
With the Spartans' season opener one week away, that gives Foster plenty of time to get fully back into playing shape before they kick their season off. He will also be a full participant in the team’s preparations for Florida Atlantic which is likely to begin any day now.
Yes, Michigan State does have other options at wide receiver who could have stepped up in Foster’s place, but none would would garner the same amount of confidence that Foster has both with the coaching staff and the rest of the offense.
Thankfully this is something that we don’t have to worry about anymore, and now we can look forward to Foster hopefully starting off his season strong with a breakout game against FAU next week.
