Throughout the summer and fall camp, it looked like Michigan State football was finally going to have some good luck with the injury bug.

The Spartans didn't suffer any major injuries throughout the summer which meant that when fall camp began, it was the most full-strength the team had been in years. Under Mel Tucker and that staff, it felt like there were two dozen injured players every single week. That wasn't the case for the start of the Jonathan Smith era. But that's changed in a hurry.

Through two weeks, Michigan State has been bitten hard by the injury bug and it doesn't look like it's going to let up any time soon.

In fact, the Spartans have lost some key players and three defensive backs may be out for the season while one more could be sidelined this week. The depth in the defensive backfield especially has taken a hit as well as at receiver.

Let's take a look at the injury report ahead of the Spartans' Week 3 game against Prairie View A&M.

Injury report for Michigan State football vs. PVAMU

QUESTIONABLE: DB Ed Woods (undisclosed), WR Jaron Glover (undisclosed), DL Ben Roberts (undisclosed), DL Avery Dunn (undisclosed)
OUT: OL Kristian Phillips (lower body), DB Chance Rucker (lower body), DB Khalil Majeed (lower body), DB Dillon Tatum (lower body), WR Alante Brown (upper body)

As you can see, there are plenty of Spartans out for Saturday's game which is slightly concerning, but as long as the injuries don't continue to pile up, they'll be able to withstand this.

Saturday shouldn't need to have the services of guys like Woods, Glover, Dunn, or Roberts, so sitting them for an extra week to get healthy may be the move.

For the rest of the guys out, there's a chance that Phillips, Rucker, and Brown return at some point while Majeed and Tatum are likely out for the year.
