Former Michigan State football defensive lineman Simeon Barrow Jr. has found a new team.

Barrow has been in the transfer portal for a couple of weeks alongside three other key defensive linemen. It didn't take long for him to find his new home as he has announced his commitment to Miami.

A return to East Lansing never seemed like an option for Barrow, but I was always holding out hope that maybe he would come back. However, it was rumored that his decision was based heavily on NIL, and after a commitment to Miami I think that is true. Michigan State has a good amount of NIL, but it appears Jonathan Smith will not overspend for any player, especially one that chooses to leave Michigan State to go shopping for a payday.

But this loss is a big one for Michigan State. When you add this loss along with Derrick Harmon, who announced his commitment to Oregon on Friday as well, you really start to see how much Michigan State is struggling with the portal right now. Then you also add in the recent decommitment from transfer Brandon Lane, and you can really see how bad of a spot the defensive line is in for Michigan State as well.

Smith and his staff do need to move fast now and find some replacement defensive linemen in the transfer portal. There have been too many losses at the position for them to do nothing, so some moves need to be made soon.

I have full faith that Smith sees this problem as well and is doing everything he can to fix it, so it may just be a matter of time until some good news comes Michigan State's way.
