Michigan State football QB commit has huge season opener
While Michigan State football hasn't returned to action quite yet, that doesn't mean that there aren't Spartans out there taking the field and putting up absurd numbers.
That's right, high school football has returned across the country and it's a good time for fans to check in on their favorite Michigan State recruits to see how they fare in their final seasons before getting to East Lansing.
One of those recruits is three-star commit Leo Hannan from Anaheim, Calif., and he happened to have one of the best openers of any Spartan recruit this past weekend.
In fact, Hannan threw five touchdown passes to five different receivers in a 45-0 win.
You could make the argument that Hannan is the first real high school quarterback commit for the new staff because they weren't rushed to make him commit like they were with Alessio Milivojevic and Ryland Jessee, but he's the first gunslinger pledge in the first full class for Jonathan Smith and Co. He was handpicked early on and the staff was able to land a commitment during the spring.
It's good that they locked him down when they did because it feels like he's going to be a rather late-riser up the recruiting rankings. He's already a borderline four-star on 247Sports, rated an 89 overall and listed as the No. 30 quarterback in the class.
The quarterback room in East Lansing is looking good for the forseeable future with Aidan Chiles leading the way followed by Jessee and Milivojevic and now Hannan. And that's not even mentioning veteran transfer Tommy Schuster from North Dakota who's here for the 2024 season.
Smith is cooking with gas in East Lansing.
