Michigan State football picks up prediction to land in-state 3-star LB
With spring practice in full swing for Michigan State football, it's hard to not get distracted from recruiting. Me personally, I'm always looking for the latest highlights and inside scoop about which players are doing well and who could be the next great Spartan.
Thankfully for us, Jonathan Smith and his coaching staff have not forgotten about recruiting. And they could be on the verge of being rewarded with an in-state linebacker.
Charles White is a three-star linebacker from Orchard Lake, Mich. According to 247Sports Composite rankings, he is the No. 589 player in the country. He also is the No. 65 linebacker in the country and the No. 10 player from Michigan.
In some news that seemingly came out of nowhere, the Spartans are now the team to beat in his recruitment. On Monday night, MSU received two crystal ball predictions from 247Sports insiders Justin Thind and Corey Robinson to win White's recruitment. However, after digging a little deeper into his recruitment, maybe we shouldn't be all that surprised.
Michigan State has clearly been on his mind a lot recently as he just wrapped up a visit to East Lansing on April 6. He also already has an official visit scheduled with Michigan State later this summer on June 7. So those two facts, coupled with him being an in-state recruit, make these two predictions a little less surprising.
However, just because these predictions have been made does not mean his recruitment is over. He likely will still be taking official visits this summer, and that includes two other schools already on his schedule. White will be officially visiting Boston College the week before MSU on May 31, then will take his third official visit to Kansas on June 14. So those appear to be the only other schools threatening MSU right now, so we are going to have to wait and see how these visits go.
Regardless, Michigan State is the clear frontrunner in this recruitment right now. White may not be committing any time soon, but you have to love where the Spartans stand.
