Jonathan Smith has done an incredible job with the 2024 Michigan State football recruiting class, I don't think there's any question about that. The first-year head coach has taken a class that was in the 90-range when he was hired and it's all the way up into the 30s now.

With signing day right around the corner, it looks like he's making progress with some of the top uncommitted prospects in the 2024 class still.

Smith just landed a highly-coveted three-star receiver over the weekend after an official visit and it looks like he's closing in on a three-star defensive lineman who holds over 30 offers from the likes of Colorado, Nebraska, Oregon, Arizona State, and Purdue. Sure, more of the offers are from the Group of Five level, but Dan Lanning has a pretty good eye for talent so if he also wants a guy, it usually means he's pretty good.

On Tuesday, the Spartans picked up four crystal balls for Mikeshun Beeler, a three-star defensive lineman from Chicago who has Colorado, Indiana, Nebraska, and Oregon high on his list as well.

Beeler is ranked the No. 119 defensive lineman in the 2024 class and while he's not the highest-rated guy, his list of offers says that he's good enough to be sought after by almost a fourth of all FBS teams.

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound defensive lineman from Chicago would provide some nice depth to the group but he would likely redshirt next season unless he blew expectations out of the water.

Beeler visited Michigan State last weekend and Joe Rossi and Legi Suiaunoa are putting in the work to get him green before signing day. Signs are pointing to that happening.
