It took a few months, but Jonathan Smith officially has his first 2025 four-star.

The first-year Michigan State football coach has been doing a solid job on the trail in 2025, landing some highly-rated three-stars, but he had been four-star-less through the first few months of the class becoming the top priority.

That was until Tuesday.

The On3 industry composite was updated and one Michigan State commit got bumped up to four-star status, making him the first in the Spartans' 2025 class.

It's cool to see Jace Clarizio getting some respect on a national level as On3's industry ranking bumped him up into the top 400 nationally at No. 395 and the 30th-best running back. He was given a fourth star by ESPN and is nearly a four-star on both On3 and 247Sports which is presumably why he jumped up to four-star status on the composite.

It feels like Jonathan Smith got himself a diamond in the rough with Clarizio who is now the No. 6 prospect in the state of Michigan for 2025.

Smith has pieced together a slightly underrated class of seven current commits, but he's getting guys who fit his system and his style. Clarizio is just the latest example of a Spartan who got a much-deserved bump in the rankings and I'm willing to bet he won't be the last one in this class. My best guess is that Leo Hannan, Di'Mari Malone, and Braylon Collier will soon be getting four-star bumps but that's just because I think they're all severely underrated.

Anyone else really liking how this class is coming along?
