Michigan State football OC Brian Lindgren says WR rotation is 5-6 guys
We are just a few days away from the kickoff of the 2024 Michigan State football season and the excitement for this year's team is growing by the day.
While no one is truly expecting Michigan State to compete for a Big Ten title or even really 7-8 wins, the idea of change after the past two disappointing seasons is welcomed.
On Tuesday, the team's new offensive coordinator, Brian Lindgren, spoke to the media and updated everyone on the roster and the depth chart ahead of the season opener against FAU on Friday. He gave good insight on the offensive line, his quarterback, and the receiving corps.
On the topic of receivers, Lindgren said that he feels "pretty good with" about 5-6 guys in the rotation.
So with that statement, it got me thinking about those 5-6 receivers that he feels good with. I think the obvious ones are Nick Marsh, Alante Brown, Montorie Foster Jr., and Jaron Glover. Those are four of the guys who should have a major role this season, but what about the other 1-2 guys that Lindgren feels good about?
If I were to venture a guess, those two guys would be Antonio Gates Jr. and Aziah Johnson. The former hit the transfer portal this offseason before deciding to return and Johnson looked really solid during the Spring Showcase.
Other guys like Jaelen Smith and Jaylan Brown are going to have solid Michigan State careers, in my opinion, but I'd be shocked if they're ready.
So the likely regular playing rotation at receiver is Marsh, Foster, Brown, Glover, Gates, and Johnson.
Honestly, not a huge surprise there.
