Michigan State football is once again potentially on the horizon for some good news.

In a matter of a few short days, one of Jonathan Smith’s top targets on the recruiting trail will be announcing their commitment, and MSU just found out it has made his top four.

Grant Beerman, a linebacker from West Chester, Ohio, has released his top four consisting of Michigan State, Cincinnati, Purdue, and West Virginia.

Beerman is a four-star linebacker and is the No. 30 linebacker in the country according to Rivals. He also is the No. 18 overall player from Ohio, which is solid considering the talent the Buckeye State always has.

Last year Beerman was a first-team all-conference selection after an outstanding junior season. He recorded an impressive 79 tackles with 12 resulting in a loss as well as four sacks, two forced fumbles, and two pass breakups.

Beerman visited East Lansing on an official visit on June 14, but this isn’t really an indication if Michigan State is trending in his recruitment or not. All four teams in Beerman’s top four received an official visit, and there also have been no official predictions made in this recruitment yet either.

On3 does give Purdue the highest chance to win this recruitment at 67.2% with Michigan State dead last at 3.9%. To be fair though, these percentages change often and I’ve found them to be pretty inaccurate from time to time, so take that however you want -- it does feel like Purdue has all the momentum here, though.

Beerman is set to announce his commitment in the coming days on July 6. As I mentioned, it’s hard to get a feel for where Michigan State stands right now, but the three schools they are up against are beatable, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Spartans win this battle.
