Michigan State football was on quite the recruiting run a couple weeks ago. There was a week stretch where Jonathan Smith earned a commitment from the transfer portal and high school ranks each day. That insane stretch, however, has come to an end, but it likely will be picking up again soon.

June marks the beginning of official visit season when the upcoming high school senior class takes center stage in the recruiting world. Many elite recruits will be flocking to East Lansing in the coming weeks and there likely will be a fair amount of commitments as well.

One recruit, in particular, who has a visit scheduled to Michigan State in June just announced his top three schools which included the Spartans.

Terrance Edwards is a three-star cornerback from Richmond, Va. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he's the No. 473 overall player in the country as well as the No. 26 player at his position.

Edwards hasn't been a target for Michigan State for that long as he was only offered by the staff in mid-February, but he and the staff have made a great connection quickly. So much so that Edwards has included MSU in his top three and scheduled an official visit to East Lansing beginning June 14.

Also included in Edwards' top three is West Virginia and Virginia Tech. Edwards will be visiting West Virginia on May 31 and Virginia Tech on June 7.

It appears Michigan State has some ground to make up in this recruitment as Virginia Tech currently holds two crystal ball predictions on 247Sports to win this recruitment. However, those predictions were made in early February before Michigan State even offered, so they don't really hold that much weight anymore.

One thing in MSU's favor is that they are the last visit. Recruits a lot of times will save their top school for last in hopes that everything goes well and they can silently commit to the staff on the spot. There is no indication this is the case with Edwards, but it is something that could very well be in the works.

Edwards will be announcing his commitment one week after his Michigan State visit on June 22. It really does fell like any of these three teams can win this recruitment, so hopefully Smith is able to get Michigan State to the finish line with the last visit.

Side note: It also doesn't hurt MSU's chances that former Spartan wide receiver Felton Davis III is Edwards' cousin. Davis also had the same top three as Edwards as well and is clearly urging him to commit to Michigan State.
