How about some good news in high school recruiting for Michigan State football? The Spartans and Jonathan Smith have done an excellent job recruiting the transfer portal so far this spring, but they are still putting a huge emphasis on recruiting high school prospects a.

This was seen in a big way on Friday as the Spartans made two separate top tens for two four-star recruits.

Four-star safety Jireh Edwards

Jireh Edwards is a four-star safety from Upper Mariboro, Md. Edwards is part of the 2026 class, so there is still a lot of time left in his recruitment, but he is one of the top recruits in the country for his class.

According to 247Sports' composite rankings, Edwards is the No. 71 overall player in the country as well as the No. 5 safety. He also is the No. 1 player from Maryland as well.

As you would probably guess, Edwards has many elite schools listed in his top 10. Ohio State, Georgia, Maryland, Oregon, Tennessee, Miami, USC, Auburn, and Alabama are also included in Edwards' top 10 along with Michigan State. But like I said, Edwards is a class of 2026 recruit, so there is still plenty of time in his recruitment, so anything is possible.

Four-star corner Graceson Littleton

The second talented recruit to put Michigan State in their top 10 on Friday is Graceson Littleton. Littleton is a four-star cornerback from Tamp, Fla.

Similarly to Edwards, he too is an elite recruit, this time in the 2025 class. According to 247Sports, Littleton is the No. 218 overall player in the country as well as the No. 26 recruit at his position.

Along with Michigan State, Florida, Iowa, Kansas State, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Rutgers, Penn State, UCF, and Alabama are included in Littleton's top 10 as well. So again, this will be another difficult recruitment for Jonathan Smith to win, but we won't have to wait as long to find out how it all goes down because Littleton is in the 2025 class.

The next step for Littleton is scheudling his official visits for this summer. He is yet to schedule any so far, so if Michigan State is able to get one on the books that would tell us that the Spartans are a lot higher on Littleton's list than some of these other schools.
