If you're a star-gazer, you may want to avert your eyes from the 2025 Michigan State football recruiting class. But if you're a firm believer that building a strong base at a program is important before targeting the big fish, you'll love the Spartans' 2025 class.

That class grew by two on Wednesday night.

In fact, the Spartans landed Justin Bell, a three-star offensive tackle from Macomb (Mich.) Dakota and then Jonathan Smith hinted at another commitment on Twitter right after.

And he got one from three-star defensive lineman Cal Thrush from Ohio.

Thrush is a three-star defensive lineman from Columbus and he may not have the most exciting offer sheet, but this is the exact type of player that would commit to Mark Dantonio back in the mid-2010s and he would become a star. When I heard Cal Thrush and saw the offers, I immediately thought of Marcus Rush. Just an overlooked recruit who ended up being one of the most underrated defenders of the Dantonio era.

Maybe we'll see the same type of production from Thrush -- that would be huge.

The three-star from Columbus only took one official visit this summer and it was on June 14 to Michigan State and it seemed like the Spartans led for him throughout his recruitment.

Thrush holds 16 offers and is ranked the No. 1,123 overall prospect and No. 107 defensive lineman in 2025, according to the 247Sports Composite. His 6-foot-4, 250-pound frame will be able to slide inside or outside whenever the staff chooses which the best fit for him is.

Hopefully Thrush is the next Rush.
