Michigan State football has been extremely hot on the recruiting trail these last few days, earning two transfer commitments and three high school commitments in the last three days.

It appears that hot streak isn’t coming to an end anytime soon as Michigan State has picked up three crystal ball predictions for a three-star edge rusher from Ohio.

Cal Thrush is a three-star edge rusher who is quickly becoming a heavy lean to MSU. Thrush, who was just offered by Michigan State last week, is the No. 64 edge rusher in the country and No. 50 player from the state of Ohio, according to 247Sports.

Thrush, who is from Ohio State’s backyard in Columbus, has locked in an official visit to Michigan State beginning June 14.

On top of that, MSU has also received three crystal ball predictions on 247Sports to land Thrush as well. These predictions are coming from two Michigan State insiders as well as a national recruiting expert, so that is as good of a sign as possible that the Spartans are the clear leaders.

It is extremely impressive to see Jonathan Smith and his staff move this quickly with Thrush. There’s no indication yet that a commitment could be coming soon, but to get an official visit scheduled and predictions placed in their favor all within a week of offering Thrush is wildly impressive.

After three straight days with a commitment, Smith has the Spartan’s 2025 class up to five commits. There is still a lot of work to be done, but it’s clear that the staff is making a lot of very solid moves and are likely making even more in the background that we don’t even know about yet.

The excitement for the new era of Michigan State football is growing, and the season (thankfully) is only three months away.
