Entering the 2024 season, it felt like Michigan State football was finally having some good luck.

Unlike other years, Michigan State had next to no bad injury luck outside of a minor one to Montorie Foster Jr. who seemed to have bounced back nicely. He played in the opener without a hitch even though he did have one of the worst games of his career.

But that good injury luck has faded away quickly.

Jonathan Smith is quickly finding out that when you put on a Michigan State jersey, your injury probability seems to double. After the season opener, the Spartans are down three key players for the remainder of the season -- most likely.

So, without further ado, let's see who will be missing the Maryland game in Week 2.

Michigan State football vs. Maryland injury report

Michigan State

OUT: DB Khalil Majeed (lower body), DB Dillon Tatum (lower body), WR Alante Brown (upper body)
QUESTIONABLE: TE Wyatt Hook (undisclosed), DL Avery Dunn (undisclosed)

Maryland

OUT: OL Isaiah Wright (undisclosed)
QUESTIONABLE: DB Lloyd Irvin (undisclosed), WR Jahmari Powell-Wonson (undisclosed), OL Deandre Duffus (undisclosed), DB Kevis Thomas (undisclosed), DL Quashon Fuller (undisclosed)

Neither team will be at full strength but that's rare nowadays anyway. The Spartans will be without two key defensive backs who were supposed to help the depth but that now took a massive hit. And Brown is a big loss because the Spartans' receiving corps is already thin.

We're going to see some younger guys have to step up in the place of these guys and I'm hoping that one of them is Nick Marsh.
