Michigan State football has the 6th-best resume in the nation through 3 weeks
Two weeks ago, Michigan State football took down Maryland on the road and the entire nation took notice and even ESPN gave the Spartans some credit.
Following that Maryland win, ESPN ranked Michigan State's resume as the fifth-best in the nation.
Well, they're still getting credit even after beating a bad FCS team in Week 3, ranking as the sixth-best resume in college football.
Only Northern Illinois, Georgia, Texas, Cal, and UNLV have better resumes through three weeks which is impressive when you consider the wins that they have. Northern Illinois won on the road against Notre Dame, Georgia beat Clemson and then Kentucky, Cal beat Auburn on the road, Texas dominated Michigan in Ann Arbor, and UNLV just won in Lawrence against the Kansas Jayhawks.
The Spartans are impressing through three weeks. No one quite expected Michigan State to beat Maryland in Week 2 but experts are predicting a Boston College win this weekend.
If Michigan State loses at Boston College, that could set up for a rough month for the Spartans with an absolute gauntlet coming up. If the Spartans beat Boston College, they'll be just one win away from breaking their preseason win total set by Vegas of 4.5.
A lot is riding on this Boston College game on Saturday night, but it looks like Michigan State is ahead of schedule as a program under Jonathan Smith.
Michigan State has a chance to add to its elite resume this weekend and for the next few games with Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan, and Iowa coming up on the schedule. If the Spartans surprise some of those teams, we may be talking about a top-five resume in the country.
