One of the biggest things impacting Michigan State football’s season this year are injuries. Every team has them, but it feels like the Spartans are suffering more than the average team does three weeks into the season.

It also is very unfortunate that a lot of Michigan State’s injuries are impacting their key players as well.

Ahead of Michigan State’s showdown this weekend against Boston College, Jonathan Smith shared two major injury updates. One will make Spartan fans very happy while the other... not so much.

Let’s begin with the good news first.

Smith shared on Monday that he is “optimistic” that wide receiver Jaron Glover will be back for MSU’s game at Boston College this weekend. I can’t express how important it is for MSU to get Glover back. The Spartans' wide receiver room was already inexperienced to begin with, but Glover was one of the top options on the unit, so losing him long term would really impact the ceiling of Michigan State’s offense.

The last time we saw Glover he caught six passes for 84 yards and a touchdown against Maryland. MSU will clearly be in a much better place with him on the field, especially if he’s able to have that amount of production each week.

Now it’s time for the bad news.

According to Chris Solari, right guard Gavin Broscious is likely out for the season after suffering a nasty leg injury in MSU’s 40-0 win over Prairie View A&M. This really isn’t a surprise as Broscious had to be carted off the field early in the second half.

Losing Broscious is bad enough, but this is the Spartans' second right guard they’ve lost for the year as Broscious was replacing Kristian Phillips who was hurt during the season opener.

I’m not sure where the offensive line goes from here, but this is a big concern considering they were already struggling as a unit as it is.

We’ll find out where Smith and his staff turn on Saturday, but I’m extremely nervous for the line’s play going forward.
