The Michigan game just got a lot more interesting.

The aftermath of Michigan State football’s 27-24 victory over Maryland was a sight to see. Players and coaches were celebrating on the field while fans were going crazy online. Even some players took to social media to share their posts and videos after defeating Maryland.

One player in particular sent out an interesting post after the Maryland game, calling out the team’s heated rival Michigan.

Now I’m not a huge fan of talking trash to teams you aren’t currently playing, but I will make an exception for that team down the road. Especially after the Wolverines were embarrassed on national TV by Texas 31-12 and didn’t stop sharing their feelings about MSU this offseason.

So this post from defensive lineman Ken Talley felt good to see.

In the above post, Talley is calling out Michigan saying that he and Michigan State will beat the Wolverines later this season in Ann Arbor and bring the Paul Bunyan Trophy home.

The important thing about this post is that Talley still acknowledges that they need to take things one week at a time. But it’s hard not to look ahead into their future matchups especially considering how much the “better” teams on their schedule are struggling.

Michigan was one of those teams that looked like an automatic loss during the offseason. However, just two weeks into the season that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. The Wolverines struggled during their week one win against Fresno State before getting blown out at home by Texas on Saturday.

Michigan’s offense also has been nonexistent so far this year, so that bodes well for a Michigan State defense that’s been surprisingly good this year. And speaking of defense, the Wolverines were expected to have one of the best defenses in the country but I’d argue MSU’s defense has looked stronger so far.

Then when you factor in that the Spartans just got a very good win on the road against a Maryland team most thought was a lot better than Michigan State and you can see how they may actually stand a good chance against the Wolverines.

We still have five more games to get through before the Spartans travel to Ann Arbor so a lot will change by then, but as it stands today I feel confident Michigan State can get a win and I’m not sure it’d even be considered that much of an upset.
