Jonathan Smith did it, folks. He brought Aidan Chiles home to be QB1 of Michigan State football in 2024 and beyond.

This felt like a long time coming as Chiles was rumored to be a Spartan lean as soon as Smith took the job in East Lansing and he just had an official visit this past weekend. The visit clearly went well because just a couple of days after getting home, he decided to go all-in and commit to the Spartans.

Chiles didn't have any other visits planned and everyone was predicting him to wind up with Smith at Michigan State, but it's nice to finally have this stress off the shoulders and the QB1 in town.

As we know, Katin Houser, Sam Leavitt, and Noah Kim all entered the transfer portal this offseason in a one-week span and two of them have found new homes already -- Leavitt picked Arizona State and Kim is headed to Coastal Carolina.

Now, the Spartans can focus on other aspects of the roster. The building of this roster is going to plan and we just need to trust that Smith is going to fill it with talented long-term players.

Seeing that Smith can land the No. 1 transfer quarterback in the portal brings hope back to the program. Sure, he already had a relationship with Chiles so he had a leg up, but the talented dual-threat trusted him enough to follow him across the country.

Michigan State may not have the longest turnaround under Smith.
