Most of the 2024 recruiting class has been sewn up for Michigan State football and it's not a bad one to kick off the Jonathan Smith era in East Lansing.

The Spartans signed 18 prospects on Wednesday and one remains committed yet hasn't signed yet as it looks like Lincoln Riley and USC may be making a serious push.

Not too bad for a coach who took over just a few weeks ago with less than 10 commits.

Which early signees will have an instant impact for the Spartans in 2024?

3. Brady Pretzlaff, 3-star LB

The newest Spartan commit and signee could be on his way to early playing time this upcoming season. While he's not the highest-rated prospect in the Spartans' class, he does play a position that might need some help with depth after losing Aaron Brule and Jacoby Windmon.

Pretzlaff committed to Michigan State over a couple of Big Ten schools on signing day, including Michigan. The in-state prospect bought in to Jonathan Smith and it helped that Joe Rossi is in East Lansing now -- he was Minnesota's defensive coordinator when Pretzlaff was still committed to the Gophers.

It feels like he could be a kid who sees the field early on via either special teams or just as a depth piece and I wouldn't at all be surprised if he had an immediate impact.

I'm very excited about what the 6-foot-3, 230-pounder can do in the green and white. He was ranked the No. 59 linebacker in the 2024 class by 247Sports.
