Following a loss to Iowa on Tuesday in East Lansing, Michigan State basketball is entering Sunday's matchup against Ohio State with a must-win mentality.

The Spartans have to beat the Buckeyes in order to remain off the NCAA Tournament bubble. Right now, the Spartans are projected as a 7/8-seed but they'll need to beat the Buckeyes and probably win three of their final four games to even flirt with a 6-seed.

Michigan State will have a lot more on the line on Sunday than just NCAA Tournament seeding. Five big-time recruits will be on campus so a win and an electric atmosphere would go a long way.

According to Joe Tipton, the Spartans will be hosting five top-65 recruits in the 2025 and 2026 classes.

Jerry Easter and Darius Adams are five-star teammates from La Lumiere and the former has been one of the Spartans' top targets for quite some time. Getting him could help Tom Izzo land Adams who was just offered by the Spartans on Jan. 9. Chuck Love is also a teammate of the two five-stars as a top-65 small forward in the 2025 class.

Steven Reynolds is a top-40 shooting guard in the 2026 class from South Bend, Ind., and Gabe Sularski is the No. 52 recruit in the 2026 class, also a shooting guard, from Illinois.

Izzo is going to have a huge recruiting day while also trying to focus on beating an Ohio State team without its head coach who actually just upset Purdue last week. Sunday will be an important day for Michigan State hoops.
