Michigan State basketball just became one step closer to landing coveted transfer portal commitment Frankie Fidler.

On Monday evening, On3 released an official prediction for Fidler to commit to the Spartans.

At this point I think Fidler is a name that all Spartan fans have heard of by now. But in case you haven’t, he is a transfer forward from Omaha who became one of Tom Izzo’s most sought after transfers this offseason. And for very good reason.

He is coming off a season where he averaged 20.1 points as well as 6.3 rebounds per game. On top of that, he is a plus 3-point shooter as well after shooting 35.6% this season.

This would be a massive win for Izzo on the recruiting trail, for many reasons. The first and most obvious is that he is an elite player who will likely become a day one starter at Michigan State. But it would also be really nice to see Izzo win this recruitment because they were not the leaders the entire recruitment.

Wisconsin was thought to be the leader in Fidler’s recruitment for a while, but that all changed once Fidler took his visit to Michigan State. Izzo and his staff knocked Fidler’s visit out of the park and had everyone thinking the Spartans and Badgers were a 50/50 split in his recruitment. However, as time went on it was Michigan State that pulled away and are now to the point where they have an official prediction in their favor.

A commitment date still hasn’t been announced for Fidler yet, but by all accounts it could be within a day or two. So stay tuned as we might get an official commitment from Fidler very soon.
