Michigan State basketball once again finds itself in another major recruiting battle for one of the top recruits in the country.

Trent Sisley, who is a forward from Montverde, Fla., has recently scheduled four official visits which essentially is his announcement of who his top four schools are. And to nobody’s surprise, the Spartans have made the cut.

Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue, and Notre Dame are the four schools who have scheduled an official visit with Sisley later this fall. Sisley is originally from Indiana, so seeing a slew of Indiana programs in his top four is no surprise at all.

Sisley is one of the top players in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings, coming in at No. 70 in the country. He also is the No. 18 forward in the 2025 class as well as the No. 11 player from Florida.

Sisley’s visit to Michigan State will begin on Oct. 12, and this date is a big reason why I think MSU may be the slight leader in his recruitment. His three other visits to the Indiana schools all occur in September, so Michigan State will have the coveted final visit. Sisley also plans to announce his commitment in mid-October, so that will likely take place directly after his visit to East Lansing.

So add these two things together and I think Michigan State is his current leader. Quite often recruits save their top school as their last visit so if everything goes well they can silently commit to the staff in person. That’s what I hope is happening here, and I hope Tom Izzo will be able to put the full court press on and earn a commitment from Sisley in October.

The Spartans are yet to earn a commitment in the 2025 class, but there’s a very good chance Sisley could be the first in a couple months.
