Michigan State basketball makes the cut for 5-star SF Dwayne Aristode
October is quickly approaching and that means one thing: it's almost time for Michigan State basketball.
The Spartans ended the 2023-24 season on a sour note, losing to North Carolina in the second round of the NCAA Tournament despite starting the season as a top-five team and even leading the Tar Heels by double figures in the first half. It felt like Michigan State had finally found its footing around tournament time, but the Spartans crumbled against the Tar Heels.
There's a feeling of a fresh start in East Lansing ahead of the 2024-25 season, however. Michigan State has made some offseason moves that should help in the long run.
Adding a three-man class ranked in the top 15 nationally as well as Szymon Zapala and Frankie Fidler should help the roster and the team should be considered one of the best in the Big Ten.
But before we get into the meat and potatoes of Michigan State basketball in 2024-25, let's focus on some recruiting storylines that have surfaced over the past few days.
First, Jalen Haralson set a commitment date for Wednesday night and he's picking between Notre Dame, Indiana, and Michigan State.
Second, Darius Adams, a five-star shooting guard, has Michigan State in his top three along with UConn and Tennessee and many believe the Huskies are the team to beat there.
And lastly, Michigan State made the cut for five-star small forward Dwayne Aristode who recently took a visit in August. USC, Duke, Arizona, and the NBL are the other finalists in Aristode's top five which came out on Wednesday afternoon.
Michigan State is in a good spot here for Aristode, a five-star from New Hampshire, and it feels like a decision is imminent as he stated that he's likely done with visits after seeing USC and Duke last week.
Let's hope Izzo gets hot on the recruiting trail.
