The offseason in college basketball is always an exciting time. The transfer portal is the main reason for that excitement, but it’s still extremely fun to watch how recruiting the high school recruits unfolds as well.

However, Justin Thind with 247Sports just released some new information about a fun trip the Michigan State basketball team will reportedly be tanking later this summer.

Each year, there are always a few programs that head to foreign countries to not just tour the area for fun, but also play some scrimmages against some foreign professional teams as well. Michigan State has done this once before under Tom Izzo, and according to Thind, they will be doing it again this summer.

In August, Michigan State will be traveling to Spain for a three-game exhibition trip throughout the country. They reportedly will be heading to Barcelona, Madrid, and Valencia during the trip. These three cities all have a professional basketball team in Spain’s top professional league Liga ACB. These three teams are all very good as they are currently in second, third, and fourth place in the league standings. So Michigan State will get to play against some high-level competition this summer on their trip.

Michigan State last made a European trip to Italy in 2015. Here they played a few countries' national teams and went 4-0 in the scrimmages they played.

This will be an awesome trip for MSU to do later this summer. Not only will they get to play some scrimmages against some good competition, but it will be a great team bonding moment. This could be exactly what this team needs to propel them to a great season later this year.
